Solution for Oskar's Knot Mass puzzle

These images depict the assembly process of Oskar van Deventer's Knot Mass puzzle. Pieces that are "new", or have been moved are drawn in green, others are drawn in brown. (Drawings by Oskar.)
There are six different kinds of pieces used in Knot Mass:
kinds of pieces
The letters that are shown on the ends of the pieces are for identification in these images; they are not present on the pieces of the real puzzle.
The puzzle consists of 16 pieces of type A, 10 of type B, 2 of type C, 4 of type D, 2 of type E and 2 of type F.

Take two pieces of type A and two of type B and put them together like this:

Insert two pieces of type A:
scene02
Insert the two pieces of type F and the four of type D. The holes in the pieces of type D end one unit closer to the top end than to the bottom end:
scene03
Insert three pieces of type A:
scene04
Insert one piece of type B. In order to do this, two pieces of type A must temporarily slide down. This is easily accomplished by rotating the puzzle on a side:
scene05
Insert two pieces of type B:
scene06
Insert four pieces of type A. To insert these pieces, rotate the puzzle on a side, slide the sub-assembly consisting of three pieces of type B and three of type A a bit up, then slide two pieces of type A around the pieces of type B closest to the bottom en then into the sub-assembly that you moved up. Repeat for the two pieces of type A on the other side:
scene07
Insert the two pieces of type E. In this image they're shown not quite inserted, so you can clearly see where the gap of the pieces goes:
scene08
Insert two pieces of type A. Again you'll have to put the puzzle on a side to accomplish this.
scene09
Insert the two pieces of type C and one of type A. The pieces of type C must be put in their final position. The image shows them partly extended so it is clear where the gap goes.
scene10
Insert two pieces of type B. Once again, you'll have to rotate the puzzle on a side to do this.
scene11
Hook up two pieces of type A:
scene12
Insert two pieces of type B:
scene13
Move the two pieces of type C to the left:
scene14
Move the leftmost two pieces of type D down:
scene15
Slide the leftmost piece of type A that was sticking out in:
scene16
Move the leftmost two pieces of type D up again:
scene17
Slide the two pieces of type C back in:
scene18
Move the two topmost pieces of type B to the left:
scene18
Move the rightmost, vertical pieces of type A down:
scene18
Insert the last piece of type B:
scene18
Move those pieces of type A back up:
scene18
Slide the extended pieces of type B back in:
scene18
Move the rightmost, vertical pieces of type D down:
scene18
Slide the piece of type A that is sticking out at the front in:
scene18
Move the pieces of type D back in:
